Ohio County Healthcare Hosts Congressman Brett Guthrie at New Surgical Unit, Highlights Advances in Patient Care

Hartford, Kentucky – Ohio County Healthcare (OCH) proudly welcomed Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) to its recently opened Surgical Unit. The visit underscored OCH’s commitment to advancing surgical care. OCH provided valuable insights into the challenges faced in rural healthcare and the successes it has achieved in delivering high-quality care.

Congressman Guthrie toured the state-of-the-art facility, which features cutting-edge technology and expanded surgical suites designed to improve patient outcomes and streamline procedures. The visit included demonstrations of OCH’s new robotic surgical equipment and discussions with the hospital’s skilled surgical team.

“Today I had the opportunity to visit Ohio County Healthcare, who are helping to provide access to critical health care services to rural Kentuckians,” said Congressman Guthrie. “As Chairman of the Energy & Commerce Health Subcommittee I have worked hard to ensure our rural communities have access to affordable, high quality health care as we tackle workforce shortages and rising costs. I look forward to continuing my work in Washington to ensure Ohio County Healthcare and health care providers across the Commonwealth can continue to provide these essential health care services for years to come.”

The new Surgical Unit, which opened its doors in October 2023 is equipped with the latest technology and designed to accommodate a wide range of surgical procedures. It represents a significant enhancement in OCH’s ability to provide specialized care and meet the growing needs of its patients. The Congressman’s visit coincided with OCH’s launch of the new Mako SmartRobotics system for use in orthopedic joint replacement surgeries.
