Hartford, Kentucky - July 15th, 2026 – Ohio County Healthcare recently achieved accreditation from Surgical Review Corporation (SRC) as a Center of Excellence in Robotic Surgery.
Status as an accredited Center of Excellence in Robotic Surgery means that Ohio County Healthcare (OCH) has met nationally recognized standards. Not all pursue accreditation, and among those who do, not all meet the standards to earn it.
“Achieving SRC Center of Excellence accreditation reflects our unwavering commitment to providing outstanding healthcare,” said Shellie Shouse, CEO of OCH. “Pursuing this accreditation was driven by our mission to continuously raise the standard of care, and it reinforces our promise to patients that they can trust us to deliver evidence-based and compassionate care close to home.”
Ohio County Healthcare underwent an extensive assessment and inspection process to ensure our facility and surgeons met SRC’s rigorous standards and requirements. As part of the review, SRC audited the applying surgeons' experience, surgical techniques, and case volumes, requiring a minimum of 200 robotic procedures annually. During the audit, SRC noted that both Michael Campbell, MD – General Surgery and Elizabeth Ottman, MD – Gynecology demonstrated high robotic surgery volumes and received zero deficiencies in all audited areas. As a result, both have been SRC-accredited as Surgeons of Excellence in Robotic Surgery. The facility assessment evaluated equipment, clinical pathways, standardized operating procedures, patient education, and quality assurance processes. No deficiencies were identified during the facility audit.
“We’re proud to recognize Ohio County Healthcare for their commitment to advancing and providing quality care for all patients,” said Gary M. Pratt, CEO of SRC. “This accreditation signals that this facility is among the best in this specialty and is dedicated to delivering the highest level of care possible.”
Ohio County Healthcare’s Surgical Unit has been open since October of 2023 and has provided 1,334 robotic surgeries in the fields of General Surgery, Gynecology, and Orthopedics. Robotic surgery offers a minimally invasive option for many patients requiring surgical procedures. Using advanced robotic technology, surgeons benefit from magnified, high-definition visualization and enhanced precision through instruments that mimic the movement and dexterity of the human hand. This results in smaller incisions, reduced blood loss, and quicker recovery times for patients.
