Qualifications:

  • Educational Preference: Doctorate (or equivalent) and licensed with the KYBOP

  • Experience:

    Minimum: licensed with the KYBOP to practice with previous experience of at least 1 year.

    Preferred: experience in Hospital Pharmacy; 3 years of experience as a pharmacist

  • Additional requirements / comments / education / experience / skills, registration or certification:

    Working knowledge with CPSI and/or Meditech, working knowledge of Omnicell or Pixis ADCs, working knowledge of Sentri7, working knowledge of software programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc., experience with Cardinal, ABC, 503B companies, DSCSA, Inmar, and OneRecall, working knowledge of pharmacy regulations and laws as it pertains to critical access hospitals including but not limited to sterile and non-sterile compounding, ADCs, KY/Federal BOP, and TJC. Experience in information technology would be helpful as well.

Job Description:

  • To assist the pharmacy manager/director with oversite of pharmacy technicians’ activities.
  • To oversee, coordinate, and control the daily operations of the pharmacy department.
  • To assist in inventory control.
  • To assist in the oversight of completing the daily receiving, processing, and returning of all medications.
  • To assist in the oversight completing the daily general pharmacy activities to maintain operations including restocking of medications, compounding of medications, rotation and storage of stocked medications.
  • To meet the minimum competencies of sterile compounding including aseptic techniques and oversight of technicians to meet these competencies.
  • To assist in the oversight of cross training pharmacy technicians in order to provide adequate coverage during PTO.
  • To review patient charts including but not limited to review of cultures and antibiotic appropriateness and make recommendations and interventions to optimize medication therapy and improve patient outcomes.
  • To serve on organizational and/or pharmacy committees as requested by pharmacy leadership.
  • To interact with other departments and employees in a professional manner and to treat all individuals with integrity and respect.
  • To assist in activities associated with other departments as deemed necessary by pharmacy leadership.
  • To follow all regulations, policies and procedures, and compliance established by the organization.
  • To assist the pharmacy manager and director in any other task deemed necessary to complete patient care needs and the needs of the pharmacy department and the organization.
  • To contribute to the efficient operation of the department and promote the organization’s core commitments.
