    Organized, keyboarding skills, self-motivated. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Job Description:

  • Responsible for anatomic pathology lab operations

  • Evaluates, develops, and implements new pathology technical procedures to ensure accurate and efficient delivery of services.

  • Develops and implements policies and procedures in pathology as necessary to maintain a high level of function in assigned area.

  • Maintains established technical and operational standards in pathology to ensure compliance with hospital standards and licensing and accrediting agencies.

  • Manages pathology staff of first line supervisors and lead technologists and may assume responsibility for the absence of appropriate supervisory staff.

  • Responsible for all pathology departmental statistics, and coordinates collection and preparation as required.

  • Responsible for the oversight of anatomic / surgical pathology laboratory operation, anatomic laboratory QA and all accrediting agency inspections including those for TJC, CLIA, etc.

  • Compares and administers pathology departmental budgets, coordinate objectives and goals designed to improve the fiscal and organizational operation of the pathology laboratory.

  • Resolves problems by consulting with pathologists, other laboratory managers, technical consultants, laboratory director, and patient care counsel.

  • Coordinates regularly scheduled team meetings with pathology department staff; establishes communication pathways and reviews for effectiveness. Maintains pathology productivity by monitoring workload of functional areas: identifying peak and slack periods: making operational or staffing adjustments and maintaining posted work schedule.

  • Responsible for assuring that pathology services are provided in a manner that is consistent with Ohio County Healthcare policies and procedures and the purpose, vision, and values.
