Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED
- Experience: Prior Healthcare field, Patient Registration Experience, Accurate Data Collection, Health Insurance Verification, Collections/Copays, Insurance websites
- Additional Requirements:
- Looking for an individual that has a great work ethic, customer service skills, and is detail oriented to make sure that accurate data is collected and entered in the patient’s account.
- Prior experience in like field would be great but can be trained for the correct person.
- Insurance knowledge is required, along with knowledge/experience with Copays and different Insurance Health Plans.
- Someone who understands patients’ responsibilities for paying for Medical Services.
Job Description:
- Work as an insurance liaison within all Admitting areas on the Hospital side/Outpatient/Surgery/ED
- Readily available to all Admitting clerks for insurance needs
- Setting up Insurance Training Courses to offer to all admitting clerks
- Discuss Insurances/Copays with patient's bedside
- Helping explain/answer all insurance questions the patients may have
- MSP's/Training staff on MSP/Making sure all are being completed weekly
- Set up all Patient Access websites for insurances
- Trainings with all admitting clerks on websites for insurances
- Setting up one on one training courses for all Admitting clerks when needed
- Minimizing the delay in collecting copays/insurance to ensure there is no delay in billing
- Knowledge of different Health plans
- Interviews patients to obtain required demographics and insurance data. Verifies information already on file and accurately enters or updates required information in the computer system. Obtains signatures on required forms.
- Obtains information from physician’s offices and other resources, if necessary, to complete the registration process.
- Provides Federal and State information on the General Conditions of Admissions, Consent, Assignment of Benefits regarding Advance Directives, Patients’ Rights and Responsibilities, HIPAA and obtains signed acknowledgements. Obtains all needed documents and signatures. Accurately complete the Medicare questionnaire.
- Collects payments such as deductibles, co-pays, deposits, and self-pay balances.
- Completes the registration process including forms, labels, armbands, and other forms as necessary.
- Responds to changes in the work schedule as necessary by assisting in other areas of registration.
- Lab and X-ray temp accounts completed accurately.
- Answer and transfer calls appropriately.
- Checking admission insurances daily to help Case Management
