Our IV Therapy Clinic provides competent skilled care in a warm, compassionate environment, close to home. We keep up to date on new procedures and remain in direct communication with your provider, making it easy for our patients to receive treatment. Our clinic works with a diverse population to provide skilled nursing care for patients who require IV infusions or injections.
The Community Treatment Area offers a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere with recliners, TV, meals and snacks. Private rooms are also available for those who need it. Patients may be scheduled for a single visit or come for services regularly over weeks, months or years.
Infusion therapy is prescribed when a patient’s condition cannot be treated effectively by oral medications. It refers to the fastest way of delivering medication directly into the veins through a needle or catheter, also known as intravenous or IV administration.
Diseases commonly requiring infusion therapy include infections that are unresponsive to oral antibiotics, cancer and cancer-related pain, dehydration, gastrointestinal diseases or disorders, congestive heart failure, Crohn's Disease, hemophilia, immune deficiencies, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, and more.
A nurse will check your blood pressure, pulse, and temperature and continue to monitor these vital signs throughout your infusion.
During a typical IV treatment, you sit comfortably while a sterile IV line delivers your individualized formula. Typically, the procedure lasts 20-60 minutes depending on the infusion. You may read, watch TV, chat with other patients, nap, or simply relax during the infusion. Some patients bring their laptops and work while getting treatment.
Infusion therapy allows you to spend more time with friends and family in your own environment and less time in the hospital. With a decreased risk of infections, you are able to return to work or school more comfortably and safely. Not to mention, medical costs are lower because you receive care on a come-and-go basis rather than as part of a hospital stay.
Often, it will be recommended you receive a series of IV’s, as part of your care plan. It is important to work with an experienced team at an outpatient facility that is close in proximity for your convenience.
