Address / 1211 Old Main St. Hartford, KY 42347

What is a Hospitalist?

A hospitalist is a physician typically trained in family or internal medicine who specializes in the treatment of patients admitted into the hospital that need medical care. They provide patients with continuity of care, allowing them to see the same physician for much of their hospital stay.

Why do you need a Hospitalist?

A Hospitalist is necessary because, unlike other doctors who have to see patients at their clinic, the Hospitalist’s singular focus is his or her patients in the hospital. Most of the time they will visit their patients daily, if not more often, and they become very familiar with a patient’s illness and healthcare needs. Hospitalist also have the unique ability to coordinate care from other specialist or other departments within the hospital such as physical therapy, respiratory therapy, social services, etc.
