You're Not Alone. We're Here To Help.

Living with COPD can be challenging, but you don't have to face it alone. The Ohio County Healthcare COPD Program helps patients better understand and manage Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Through education, resources, and personalized support to help you manage your symptoms, improve your quality of life, and continue doing the things you love.

Who Can Benefit?

The COPD Program may benefit individuals who have been diagnosed with COPD, are at risk for developing COPD, or experience symptoms such as:

  • Shortness of breath
  • A persistent or chronic cough
  • Excess mucus or sputum production
  • Difficulty managing breathing symptoms during daily activities

If you have concerns about your breathing or would like to learn more about managing COPD, talk with your healthcare provider.

How the Program Works

The COPD Program works alongside your primary care provider and/or pulmonologist to support your ongoing care. Education and resources are tailored to your individual needs, helping you better understand your condition and take an active role in managing your health.

The program does not replace your regular medical care. Continue seeing your healthcare provider for medical evaluations, treatment decisions, and changes in your symptoms.

What We Offer

The COPD Program provides individualized education and resources to help patients better manage their condition, including:

  • COPD education: Understanding COPD, its symptoms, and how it affects your lungs.
  • Inhaler technique: Learning how to use inhalers and other prescribed respiratory devices correctly.
  • Medication education: Understanding your medications and how they help manage symptoms.
  • Breathing techniques: Learning strategies to help manage shortness of breath.
  • Trigger avoidance: Identifying and avoiding things that may worsen breathing symptoms.
  • Smoking cessation resources: Information and support for those who want to quit smoking.
  • Pulmonary rehabilitation information: Learning about resources that may help improve breathing, strength, and endurance.
  • Oxygen education: Understanding prescribed oxygen therapy and its proper use.
  • Self-management support: Developing strategies to recognize symptoms, manage daily activities, and know when to contact your healthcare provider.

How to Get Started

If you have COPD or are concerned about your breathing, ask your primary care provider or pulmonologist about the OCH COPD Program. Your provider can help determine whether the program may be appropriate for you and send us a referral.

Healthcare providers may also contact the program for information about referring a patient.
