Job Description:

  • General Summary:

    As a surgery scheduler, you will be responsible for managing the scheduling process for surgical procedures, coordinating with patients, physicians, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to ensure smooth and efficient operation of the surgical department.

    ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    · Patient Coordination:

    · Schedule surgical procedures for patients in accordance with physician recommendations, patient preferences, and hospital protocols.

    · Communicate with patients to provide pre-operative instructions, address concerns, and ensure understanding of surgical procedures and requirements.

    · Physician Liaison:

    · Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, and other medical staff to coordinate surgical schedules, ensuring optimal utilization of operating room resources.

    · Obtain necessary medical clearances and documentation from physicians to facilitate scheduling.

    · Surgical Planning:

    · Coordinate with surgical teams to schedule necessary pre-operative tests, consultations, and assessments.

    · Arrange for equipment, supplies, and personnel required for each surgical procedure, ensuring availability and readiness.

    · Administrative Tasks:

    · Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of surgical schedules, patient information, and related documentation.

    · Assist with insurance verification, authorization, and billing processes as necessary.

    · Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, hospital policies, and industry standards.

    · Communication and Coordination:

    · Serve as the primary point of contact for patients, families, and healthcare providers regarding surgical scheduling inquiries and updates.

    · Coordinate with various departments, including nursing, anesthesia, and operating room staff, to facilitate seamless patient care.
